In my role as Senior Farm Consultant, I often do a Cost Benefit analysis with farmers to show them the potential return on investment of using our product. This is a a crucial step in communicating why the cost of our system is not only justified, but many times more valuable in the long run.
The value and ROI of content marketing such as blogs, web copy, social media posts and ebooks can be harder to pinpoint. Many times, it can take several weeks or longer for content marketing to deliver tangible results in terms of leads or sales.
However, content marketing has a benefit that is often far more valuable to short-term events like a cold call, email or text. Good copywriting is "sticky", meaning readers come back to it over and over. Good content is shared. Or bookmarked.
I've had people call me out of the blue and tell me they just watched my video on Facebook or Youtube, or read my article about regenerative agriculture...that I did 9 months ago.
I've followed up with prospects months later and told them about our previous conversations (the magic of CRMs). When they said they don't remember, I point to a calendar on their wall and said, "I gave you that calendar". We now have a 10 minute conversation about the tips that I put each month that helped her organize her business.
